Signs You Need Home AC Repair

With the El Paso heat slowly creeping in many homeowners are turning on their air conditioning units only to find that they need a bit of home AC repair. Often times the AC unit goes unnoticed during the cold months. Then when they flip the switch in the spring a bit of dust, loud clanking and shaking emits, but no cold air. To avoid this, annual maintenance on both heating and cooling systems is recommended. This will help you catch issues before they turn into breakdowns. If you are flipping on your air conditioner for the first time this season we have a few signs to look out for that will indicate that you need repairs.

Poor or No Air Flow

If you feel air coming from the vents but it is a very weak flow you probably are not feeling the air circulate through the rooms. This can be frustrating with temperatures soaring into the 80s and 90s. This may be an indication of issues with the air compressor or the vents and duct work. This is a problem that a technician can troubleshoot and give you answers about.

Warm Air Flow

With the El Paso heat in full effect the last thing you want is hot air blowing into your home. When this problem arises temperatures in the home can rise to above the outdoor temps. If you have a swamp cooler the problem can be coming from the humid weather outdoors, in which case there isn’t much you can do. Other than switching to refrigerated air of course. If you have refrigerated air warm air flow can indicate an issue with the compressor or low refrigerant.

Loud Noises

When your AC is functioning but making unusual noises, unfortunately, it may be best to shut off the system until a technician can conduct an inspection and find the problem. You don’t need the loud banging to turn into a complete breakdown. This problem can mean any number of issues that will call for home AC repair.

Avoiding the Need for Home AC Repair

To avoid home AC repairs all together be sure to have a qualified expert conduct a full maintenance inspection on your HVAC system once to twice a year. Regular maintenance can prolong the life of your unit and ensure that upcoming issues are caught before they turn into repairs. A service will include a full inspection, a cleaning, lubricating, changing out filters and spotting any trouble spots. If you have anything that raises red flags for the technician they will take action to fix it. This can include loose parts, exposed wires, metal on metal, clogged filters and more.

If you have a faulty cooling or heating system that needs repairs or simply want a technician to inspect your HVAC, be sure to give Mechanical Technologies a call. We will provide you with prompt, reliable service. Contact us today for more info or to set up an appointment.
