3 Things You Need to See in Your HVAC Warranty

When you are in the market for a new HVAC system, you must pay attention to the product’s warranty as much as its features and costs. After all, it comes in handy if something wrong happens to your purchase within a few weeks or a few years after its installation. With this in place, you won’t have to spend your hard-earned money to fix your furnace, air conditioner, or heat pump.

Mechanical Technologies, a leading AC repair company, shares the three things you want to see in your HVAC warranty.

1. Warranty Terms

Since the components of your HVAC system have an average life span of about 20 years, consider the coverage duration or term when evaluating the features of the product’s manufacturer warranty. For standard replaceable parts, the ideal coverage term is ten years. Coils and the more expensive components have up to 20 years. There are HVAC units with lifetime warranties, though some may not cover labor-related expenses during the first year.

2. Extended Warranty

HVAC manufacturers and heating and air conditioner service contractors may offer extended warranties on top of the existing warranty that comes with the HVAC system you purchased. Typically, they add between five to ten years to either parts or labor. Before you commit, make sure you are aware of the details of the extended warranty, including the period when the warranty service is available and the time you’ll have to wait for the technician to inspect and repair your system.

3. Installation Warranty

Apart from the warranty coming from the manufacturer, the contractor who offered and installed your HVAC system may also provide an installation warranty. It is proof that they stand behind their work, protecting you from future instances where your furnace, heat pump, or AC suffers an installation-related problem.

We at Mechanical Technologies understand the importance of prompt service for all your heating and cooling concerns. Whether you need air duct cleaning or heating system repair, you can count on us to be there for you, ensuring you are provided with the service you want and need.
